Heard about this book on NPR and it raised my interest. Just the bear section was I good read by itself but very clever analogies arose with the different experience s in Cuba, Kosovo, Georgia and Greece. Enjoyed the comparisons.

Strange little book on people who have lived under Soviet rule and are somewhat lost as to how to proceed in life, as in making a living, providing for family, etc. The creative methods employed to get around the new system and make a living are unusual.

This is one the best book I have read in a long time. It's intelligent, it's funny and very very reliable. I really loved this book.

Great book! Very informative! Definitely more about the bears than the people, but overall written incredibly well! Very engaging!
