This book is important if you intend to visit Oaxaca and appreciate its arts/crafts. It is well documented and gives examples of work and artistic aspects of each featured family. The Authors are thorough; providing valuable information to visitors/collectors interested in buying from Oaxacan artists. There are maps of the city and pueblos locating artists from text (invaluable if you are not with a guide) family trees of artists, a glossary of terms with definitions and a section describing "The Day of the Dead" objects; which many visitors do not understand. The photographs are beautiful and appropriate to each section of craft.It would also be interesting (if you have the book) to compare your experiences buying a piece from a family member face to face rather than through a gallery or store. When I return, I will bring this book and visit artists I was unaware of. The book is a gem and clearly done with an educated eye and a heartfelt respect for the families and their work.

I purchased this book because I will be visiting this area of Mexico in the distant future. I wanted to learn more about the Folk Art createdin the Oaxacan area, and did so when I examined this book. The photos and and write-ups provided have given me a great deal ofinformation about the variety of Art forms produced by many families in this area. This is an extensive look at the crafts of Oaxaca amd the families who make them. I used this book as a guide when I visted Oaxaca. It is accurate. Very nice photos.

Interesting, and fairly comprehensive, but the quality of the photography is somewhat lacking. It does have extensivefamily trees, which are a useful tool.

I absolutely love this book. It's a great introduction for someone trying to get into feng shui. Mary Lambert is easy to understand and provides real life examples of how to incorporate the tips into your home. I bought this book to go along with a homeschool co-op lesson I was teaching about Mt. Rushmore and a soap carving activity. It was an entertaining book as well as informative. Two thumbs up!

We had gone to Mount Rushmore several years ago with our grandson and this helped him remember the trip and the art work.

I really liked the book. She did a wonderful job of telling the story of the son finishing his fathers dream and vision.

This is a beautifully illustrated well-written story about a little known subject. Almost everyone associates the Mount Rushmore monument with its designer and creator, Gutzon Borglum. How many people know that this majestic project was continued and finished by his son Lincoln? Children can learn about a great moment in American history and what hardships and obstacles were overcome in creating an American icon. A perfect book for ages 6 - 12, I purchased a copy for my grandchildren and watched them devour it.

A fantastic story of how Mt Rushmore was created. Beautiful illustrations and an easy read for all ages. A must read for any family traveling out west to see this national landmark.

A book about a hard-working young man, the son of Mount Rushmore sculptor Gutzon Borglum. The book focuses on Lincoln Borglum's early life of work and discipline and then the huge responsibility he undertook when his father died with the project incomplete. The story tells of the love the working men had for him, and of the respect he showed the local native Americans. The illustrations are excellent, rich in details and history. Winner in my book!
