It's become pretty standard for high profile authors like Brad Taylor to release these short eBooks in the weeks prior to releasing a major new novel. My experience has been pretty mixed - some are good, most are average, a few have been awful - but the Taskforce stories released by Taylor are among the ones I've enjoyed the most and BLACK FLAG is no exception.In BLACK FLAG, Taylor wastes no time placing Pike, Jennifer, Knuckles and Brett in harm's way - and of course the thrill is reading how they dispense their own brand of justice (read: retaliation) in return.You don't need to have read previous books in the Pike Logan series to enjoy this - just don't go looking for a lot of character development or deep philosophical discussions. Pike Logan's world is very black and white - there's right and wrong, good guys and bad guys, and then there's Pike, the good guy willing to do bad things because sometimes it's necessary.If you enjoy reading thrillers with protagonists with that worldview then you should be reading Brad Taylor - or said another way: if you're a fan of fictional heroes Mitch Rapp, Scot Harvath or Gabriel Allon then you should be a fan of Pike Logan as well.
The task force gets involved in a modern day piracy adventure! And, they are adding crewmember, Jennifer. Full of action-adventure, the plot races to conclusion in Jamaica. Romanian rogues and brutal killers are the antagonist s who nearly pull off a sophisticated heist on the high seas. The characters do not disappoint. A short read. Enjoy.Bjgraney@charter.net
Some authors can pack a punch in a short story. This is an interesting action short story but does not do anything with these established characters. What has made his long form stories so good is the deeper nature of the relationships and the crazy bad guys. This has very generic bad guys and is just in mission mode most of the time. You can guess the story arc from very early on and it follows it without much deviation.Not a waste of money per se since not very expensive and you get an intro to the new book, but was like seeing an impressive looking cream puff and then finding it is filled with cool-whip when you bite into it.
Another exciting Brad Taylor short. After meeting with some Irish dude Knuckles agrees with his bright idea to going after Blackbeard's 'treasure' off the coast of Jamaica... and then the real fun begins. Who uses the Black Flag? Why pirates of course! So guess who Grolier Recovery Services team run into? A fast fun read. Another thumbs up for Brad Taylor.
Interesting storyline, could hardly put it down... Love Pike Logan and his team... on to the next book of their adventure...
Brad Taylor never disappoints. Another great read that I was unable to put down. I've come to love these stories as much as any series in any genre.
Great reading. Thanks for the mystery of the action and a little bit of information about the ends that our enemies are using to get to the things that are needed to get to the secrets we have. Thanks for another great experience in intrigue. Looking forward to seeing what's the next one.
Same characters and pretty much same story line with the beautiful girl saving their asses----Again! This series is a good read!
